About this book
Ayurveda shapes how millions of Indian families eat, cook and care for their health — from turmeric milk and ghee to seasonal routines and herbal remedies. At the same time, modern nutrition science offers new ways to test what works.
This book brings the two together respectfully and honestly. It explains core Ayurvedic ideas — doshas, agni, daily and seasonal routines — and examines what research says about turmeric, ghee, fasting, ashwagandha, triphala, tulsi, chyawanprash and more. You'll learn which traditional practices align well with modern evidence, which claims go beyond it, and how to use traditional wisdom safely alongside modern medicine.
For anyone who values tradition and wants to make informed choices about their health.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

Two Ways of Knowing
Ayurveda
Ayurveda ("knowledge of life") is one of the world's oldest systems of medicine, with roots in classical texts such as the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita. It emphasises balance, prevention, daily routines, food as medicine, and individualised care. In India, Ayurveda is recognised within the AYUSH system and practised by trained practitioners (BAMS graduates).
Modern evidence-based medicine
Modern medicine tests treatments using controlled studies, measuring outcomes and comparing them with placebos or standard care, and it changes its recommendations as evidence accumulates.
How this book approaches them
• Respect: Ayurvedic practices are part of India's cultural heritage, and many embody sensible, time-tested wisdom.
• Honesty: traditional use isn't the same as proof of effectiveness or safety. Some claims are well supported; many are unproven; some products carry risks.
• Integration: the most helpful approach for most people combines healthy traditional habits with modern medical care.
Old isn't automatically right, and new isn't automatically better. Evidence is the bridge between them.
The book continues for 61 pages across 23 chapters.
