About this book
For generations, women were told to avoid heavy weights — to stick to light dumbbells, cardio and "toning". The science says the opposite: strength training is one of the most powerful things a woman can do for her body, at twenty, forty or seventy.
This book explains how women's bodies respond to training, dismantles the myths, and gives you complete programmes for beginners and intermediates. It covers the menstrual cycle, PCOS, pregnancy and postpartum (with medical clearance), perimenopause and menopause, bone health, pelvic floor, nutrition and confidence in the gym.
Written for Indian women who want to be strong — for life.

Why Strength Matters for Women
Strength training changes how you look — but its real value runs deeper. It's about carrying children and groceries without strain, protecting your bones and joints as you age, managing your metabolic health, and moving through life with confidence.
Benefits that matter at every age
• Muscle and metabolism: muscle supports blood sugar control and helps maintain a healthy body composition.
• Bone density: resistance training is one of the most effective ways to maintain and build bone — crucial because women face a higher risk of osteoporosis, particularly after menopause.
• Joint health and posture: stronger muscles support the knees, hips, back and shoulders.
• Mental health: regular strength training is associated with improved mood, reduced anxiety and greater self-esteem.
• Independence later in life: strength is strongly linked with the ability to live independently as we age.
The Indian context
Many Indian women juggle work, household responsibilities and caregiving, often with little time for themselves. Rates of vitamin D deficiency, anaemia and low bone density are common, and South Asian women face elevated risks of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Strength training two or three times a week is a practical, high-return investment in long-term health.
The book continues for 57 pages across 21 chapters.
