About this book
"I can't meditate — my mind won't stop." It's the most common sentence meditation teachers hear, and it's based on a misunderstanding. Meditation isn't about stopping thoughts. It's about noticing them — and gently coming back.
This book teaches five simple, secular practices — breath awareness, body scan, sounds and noting, kindness, and walking — through a four-week programme that starts at five minutes a day. It explains what's happening in your mind, how to handle sleepiness, restlessness and doubt, and how to bring calm attention into a busy Indian life: commutes, deadlines, family and all.
Practical, honest and free of jargon.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

Why Meditate
Imagine trying to read a book on a bus while three people talk to you at once, your phone buzzes, and you're also worrying about tomorrow's meeting. That is how many of us live most of the day: attention pulled in every direction, rarely resting anywhere.
Meditation is training for attention. It is the deliberate practice of placing your attention somewhere — the breath, the body, sounds — noticing when it wanders, and bringing it back. Over time, this simple practice changes how you relate to your own mind.
What people commonly notice
People who practise regularly often report:
• Feeling calmer and less reactive to stress.
• Better focus and less mental "scatter".
• Improved sleep, particularly falling asleep.
• More awareness of emotions before they take over.
• Greater patience with themselves and others.
Research on mindfulness-based programmes has found benefits for stress and some measures of anxiety and low mood, and structured programmes are used in healthcare in several countries. Effects vary between people, studies differ in quality, and meditation isn't a cure-all — but for many people, a small daily practice makes a real difference.
The book continues for 64 pages across 17 chapters.
