About this book
The breath is the only lever on your nervous system you can pull in real time — before a presentation, between sets, in a traffic jam, or at 2 a.m. when you can't sleep.
This book is a practical, modern toolkit: physiological sighs, box breathing, resonance breathing, CO₂ tolerance training, nasal breathing for endurance, bracing for lifting, and wind-down protocols for sleep. Each technique comes with what it's for, how to do it, the evidence behind it, and when not to use it.
For athletes, professionals, students — anyone who performs under pressure.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

Chapter 1
The Breath as a Lever
Your heart rate, muscle tension, alertness and emotional state are tightly linked to the way you breathe.
Two directions
Why the exhale calms
During inhalation, heart rate rises slightly; during exhalation, it falls (respiratory sinus arrhythmia). Emphasising the exhale biases the system toward calm.
You can't simply "decide" to stop being anxious. But you can decide to exhale slowly — and the body follows.
The Science in Brief
• Oxygen: at rest, healthy people's blood is already about 95–99% saturated. Breathing harder rarely increases oxygen delivery meaningfully.
• Carbon dioxide: CO₂ levels drive the urge to breathe. Over-breathing lowers CO₂, which can cause dizziness, tingling and a feeling of anxiety.
• The Bohr effect: CO₂ helps release oxygen from haemoglobin to tissues. Chronic over-breathing may, in theory, reduce oxygen delivery efficiency.
• Heart rate variability (HRV): higher HRV at rest is generally associated with better recovery and resilience. Slow breathing can increase HRV acutely.
The book continues for 56 pages across 24 chapters.
