About this book
You can lose the weight, build the muscle, get the abs — and still hate what you see in the mirror. For many people, the problem was never the body.
This book explores how body image forms, why the fitness world can make it worse, and how to build a healthier relationship with your body. It covers social media and comparison, muscle dysmorphia and eating disorders, the difference between self-improvement and self-punishment, body neutrality, self-compassion, and how to train and eat from respect rather than shame.
For anyone who's ever felt their worth depends on their reflection.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

Chapter 1
What Is Body Image?
Body image is how you see, think about, feel about and behave towards your body.
Body image is not the same as appearance
Research consistently shows a weak link between how people actually look and how they feel about their bodies. Highly attractive, very fit people can have very poor body image.
If your body image depends on your body changing, it will always be one goal away.
How Body Image Forms
The Indian context
Many Indians grow up with frequent comments on weight ("You've become fat!" or "Too thin — eat more!"), preference for fair skin, marriage-market pressures, and Bollywood ideals. These messages can deeply shape self-worth.
The Fitness Paradox
Exercise can improve body image — or worsen it.
When fitness helps
• Focus on what your body can do (strength, endurance, skill).
• Enjoyment of movement.
• Community and belonging.
• Improved mood and confidence.
When fitness harms
• Training only to "fix" or punish your body.
• Constant mirror-checking, body measuring and weighing.
• Comparison with others at the gym or online.
• Rigid rules: "I can't eat unless I've trained."
• Guilt or anxiety when missing sessions.
The book continues for 57 pages across 23 chapters.
