About this book
Many people who use anabolic steroids believe they're "doing it safely" because they feel fine, look great and had one blood test that seemed normal. But the most serious harms — to the heart, blood vessels, liver, hormones and mind — often develop silently over years.
This book explains, organ by organ, what the research shows about the health risks of anabolic-androgenic steroid use; which warning signs need urgent attention; which health checks people should discuss with their doctor; how to talk to a doctor honestly; and how families can recognise problems and help.
Not a guide to using steroids. A guide to understanding what they can cost — and how to protect your health.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

Why Monitoring Matters
Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) affect almost every system in the body. Some effects appear quickly and visibly — acne, mood changes, fluid retention. Others develop silently: thickening heart muscle, damaged blood vessels, rising blood counts and liver changes may produce no symptoms until something serious happens.
The illusion of safety
• "I feel great, so I must be fine."
• "My blood work was okay last year."
• "I only use moderate amounts."
• "My friend has used for ten years without problems."
None of these guarantees safety. Individual risk varies, products are often mislabelled or contaminated, and many harms accumulate with time and higher exposure.
Monitoring doesn't make steroid use safe. It can detect some harms earlier — and help a person and their doctor decide when to stop.
What this book does and doesn't do
The Evidence Base
Research on AAS health effects comes from:
• Clinical trials using therapeutic testosterone doses (generally lower than non-medical use).
• Observational studies of non-medical users, often recruited from gyms or clinics.
• Case reports of serious events (heart attacks, strokes, liver tumours, deaths).
• Registry studies, such as large Scandinavian cohorts linking AAS use with health records.
The book continues for 57 pages across 20 chapters.
