About this book
Stopping anabolic steroids can be harder than starting. Natural hormone production may be suppressed for months. Strength and size fade. Mood can crash. Many people restart simply to stop feeling terrible.
This book is a compassionate, practical guide to coming off: what happens to the body and mind after stopping, why recovery varies so much, why medical supervision matters, how to protect your mental health, how to train and eat through the transition, how to handle the loss of size and identity, and how families can help.
For anyone who wants to stop — and stay stopped — safely.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

Chapter 1
Deciding to Stop
People stop using anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) for many reasons:
• Health scares — high blood pressure, heart changes, abnormal blood tests.
• Wanting to start a family.
• Side effects — acne, hair loss, gynaecomastia, mood swings.
• Cost, legal concerns, or relationship pressure.
• Feeling trapped and wanting freedom.
Whatever your reason, deciding to stop is a significant step towards protecting your health.
You don't have to have it all figured out. The first step is simply to decide to stop and get support.
Why stopping can be hard
• Physical withdrawal: low energy, low libido, low mood.
• Loss of size and strength.
• Identity and body image tied to the "enhanced" physique.
• Social circles where use is normal.
• Dependence — a recognised pattern in some long-term users.
What Happens When You Stop
The HPG axis
During AAS use, the brain senses high androgen levels and reduces signals (LH and FSH) to the testes. The testes produce little testosterone and fewer sperm.
When external androgens are stopped:
• Androgen levels fall.
• The brain slowly restarts signalling.
• The testes gradually resume production.
During this gap, many people experience low testosterone (hypogonadism).
The book continues for 58 pages across 22 chapters.
