About this book
You've trained hard for two years. You eat well, sleep well, never miss a session. And you still don't look like the influencers who claim they got there "naturally" in eighteen months.
This book explains why. It covers what research suggests about realistic natural muscle gain, how performance-enhancing drugs change the picture, how lighting, posing, editing and dehydration distort images, the business of fake-natty marketing, and how to set goals you can genuinely reach. It's about protecting your health, your money and your self-esteem in an industry built on illusions.
Honest expectations for people who want to train for life.
Educational guide. It supports — never replaces — care from your doctor, and contains no doses, cycles or sources.

The Comparison Trap
Every day, millions of people compare their bodies with images online — and feel inadequate.
What's often hidden
You're comparing your everyday reality with someone else's carefully constructed peak.
What Natural Training Can Achieve
How much muscle can you gain naturally?
Estimates from coaches and researchers vary, but a commonly cited approximate guide for men with good training and nutrition is:
Women typically gain roughly half these amounts in absolute terms, though relative gains can be similar.
Limited evidence: These are rough heuristics, not precise science — individuals vary widely because of genetics, age, starting point, programme quality and consistency.
Rate slows over time
Progress is fastest at the beginning and slows as you approach your genetic potential. That's normal, not failure.
Natural limits
Researchers have proposed indices like the fat-free mass index (FFMI) to estimate natural muscularity. One frequently cited study (Kouri et al., 1995) found that men who didn't use steroids rarely exceeded an FFMI of about 25. This isn't a hard rule — exceptional genetics exist — but very high values combined with very low body fat and rapid gains warrant scepticism.
